Let's start with this DROPS Desing poncho I'm making for my mom. (It's called the Arabella poncho, you can find the pattern here) I'm using the yarn the pattern calls for, DROPS Paris in the colorway dark old pink.
I feel like it has taken me forever to make this already and I still have about 1,5 skeins to go... My mom keeps saying there's no hurry but obviously I want to get it done and give it to her as soon as possible.
One of the reasons why making this has been kind of slow and not so fluid is that I haven't really done crochet much. And that's actually why I suggested my mom a crochet poncho rather than a knitted one, because I wanted to crochet more. Maybe it wasn't exactly a wise thing to do to start with something this big. And to tell you the truth I'm not really happy with my work. Especially when it's not for me. I tend to be quite of a perfectionist when it comes to anything I'm making for someone else. And that's actually something I want to talk about more sometime.
But anyway, I've been trying to work mainly on this and I should get it done soon enough.
I actually have made another crochet project recently, as I made these seat cushions for the balcony from recycled t-shirt yarn. To make them more sturdy and soft I stitched them to some Ikea cushions my mom gave me as she didn't need them anymore. I'm quite happy about that because I'm really interested in refashion and repurposing things and definitely want to make more projects related to that!
Another DROPS Desing pattern I'm making is the Spring fling -bolero. I'm using Drops BabyAlpaca Silk -yarn in the powder colorway. I've been watching the Big Bang Theory recently and I just love Bernadettes style with cute dresses and cropped cardigans, so I keep going through Ravelry looking for patterns for boleros and such to wear with summer dresses :)I've knitted some clothes before but only in baby sizes so this is the first piece of clothing I'm ever making for myself. That's something I really want to start doing more though. There are so many cardigans and sweaters I want to make!
I love the ribbing with these one stitch cables but making it was kind of stressful... It was actually the same thing with the poncho; it took me so long to make I got a little bit frustrated. But now that it's done, it was worth it ;)
I didn't reall like the lace pattern on the body of this bolero, so I decided to make it in stockingnette stitch instead. I do love the eyelets on the sleeves and I'm totally obsessed with the powder color right now, so I think the lace on the body migh have been a bit too much anyway.
I also have some other projects on the needles but these are the ones I've been trying to focus on now.
Being new to blog writing, it feels kind of awkward and you don't really know what to say... Especially these first posts feel challenging. But I guess it will get better after I get the hang of this and figure out my way of writing a blog.
If you're still reading, thank you so much for your time. I'd love to know who you are and what are you making right now!
